ABOUT

Julia Montagnet began her career in bookkeeping in the mid-1990s to supplement her income while attending school to become a licensed massage practitioner in Washington State. After successfully running her own massage practice until 2000, she transitioned fully into bookkeeping following the onset of physical challenges that required her to close her practice.

Over the past twenty-five years, Julia has cultivated extensive expertise in bookkeeping, budgeting, cash flow analysis, and financial forecasting. Her analytical skillset and practical business insight have become the cornerstone of her professional identity.

In 2009, Julia founded Sound Cents, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families learn to track and manage their finances, reduce debt, and build sustainable financial habits. The organization offered free community classes in local libraries across the region.

In 2012, Julia’s professional focus expanded as she became a full-time riding instructor and achieved certification as a PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. She also coached dressage and specialized in rehabilitating feral and problem horses. Throughout this period, she continued to apply her business, accounting, and nonprofit management skills—establishing her own small therapeutic riding center and gaining experience in grant writing and program development.

In 2015, Julia launched Island Potions, a line of natural skincare products that she operated successfully until 2018, when she sold the business to devote more time to her riding center.

Following a major life transition in 2020, Julia returned to full-time nonprofit and financial leadership, serving as an Executive Director and Finance Manager.

In August 2025, Julia relocated to Freeport, Florida, with her dog, Babs, and cat, Artemis, after falling in love with the area while visiting a lifelong friend in nearby Destin.
